FAQ

Before you start

Is the real PQE really just one exam, not separate papers?
Yes — the TRCN PQE is one 60-question, 60-minute CBT sitting covering all 5 content areas in a single exam. We split it into areas here purely so your practice and weak-spot report stay organized by topic; when you're ready, select all 5 areas together for a full-length mock.
Which category (A, B, C) does this cover?
The PQE content and syllabus are the same regardless of registration category (A/B/C, based on your qualification level) — categories affect your registration fee, not the exam content.
How many questions are in the TRCN PQE and how much time do I have?
The TRCN PQE is 60 questions in 60 minutes — roughly one minute per question — spread across Pedagogy, Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, and Safeguarding. Speed under time pressure matters as much as knowing the content, which is why timed full-length practice is worth doing, not just topic-by-topic review.
What is the pass mark for the TRCN PQE?
TRCN sets and communicates the official pass mark through its own registration channels, and it can be adjusted between diets — check your registration portal or TRCN's official communication for the exact figure for your sitting. What consistently helps regardless of the exact cutoff is even performance across all 5 areas rather than being strong in one and weak in another.
Is this affiliated with TRCN?
No. ExamPass is an independent exam preparation platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.
How often is the TRCN PQE held, and where are the exam centres?
TRCN runs two PQE diets a year — Batch A around May/June and Batch B around October/November — with computer-based exam centres assigned in all 36 states and the FCT. Your specific venue and time slot are usually sent by SMS and email a few days before your exam.
Who is required to sit the TRCN PQE?
Anyone with a teaching qualification — NCE, B.Ed, or a degree plus PGDE/PDE — must pass the PQE to be registered as a professional teacher in Nigeria, regardless of which state they trained or plan to teach in.
